Editorial... The American Dream Is Outdated. By Johnny Rage The American Dream is Outdated. The American Dream is defined as the pursuit of an immigrant coming to this country in order to prosper more than they would within their previous borders. Plain and simple, this bloated, belt-busting country of ours is filling up at a rapid pace, leaving no room for anyone else’s American Dream. Why do you think this country is weakening? Too much, too fast. We use the term illegal aliens for a reason. By definition, they are illegal and what happens to someone who is part of something illegal. They are dealt with by the authorities and tried within the laws of the land. We are not doing that and our leaders are in such disarray that it will not be done in a competent and timely manner. But wait I say, I have an answer. What really drives this country anyway? The all-mighty dollar bill you say. Yes says I. My solution is simple. Implement an expansion fee. It should be the price to enter this country and it should be imposed on anyone coming here or someone that is here illegally already that passes the minimum legal requirements for citizenship. End of story. No more free passes. In order for this country to process immigrants correctly, it takes time, labor, doctors, supplies, background checks and ultimately a ton of cash. This expansion fee will lead to jobs in this country and more importantly put the carrot out in front of our newly-landing neighbors from afar. If they pass the citizenship requirements and are granted entrance into this great land, they either pay the debt off, or start working legally. Either way they are accounted for and can be traced by the IRS. Their paycheck will be garnished as a legally-working citizen that will ensure that they are a tax-paying productive member of society.
